Explainer videos

Explainer videos, from a blank canvas to a finished cut.

Start with an idea and a script, lay out scenes with shapes, icons and text, record your voice-over and time everything to it. No slide app, no motion-graphics software.

A finished explainer frame: a chart in a spotlight with an ‘Over budget’ callout and a caption.
The usual problems

Sound familiar?

01

Slides don’t move

Building in slides and exporting to video gives you stiff cuts and no control over timing.

02

Motion software is a second career

Professional animation tools are powerful, and take months to learn for a two-minute explainer.

03

Script and picture drift apart

When the script lives in a doc and the edit lives elsewhere, every rewrite means re-timing by hand.

How it works

Four steps, all in one place.

  1. 1

    Plan the message

Write the idea, the audience and what they should understand afterwards.

  2. 2

    Script the beats

A hook, then sections and segments with narration and visual notes.

  3. 3

    Build the scenes

Insert a title card, bullet list, numbered steps or before/after, then change anything in it.

  4. 4

    Record and time

Record voice-over against the picture and nudge each graphic to the word.

The tools

What you’ll use most.

All features

Scene templates

Title card, bullet list, numbered steps, before/after, quote and outro, in your brand colours.

Shapes and arrows

Rectangles, ellipses, lines and curved arrows with fills, dashes, shadows and draw-on animation.

Icons

A searchable icon library you can recolour and resize without losing sharpness.

Backgrounds

Solid colours, gradients with presets, or an image from your library, blurred if you like.

Text that moves

Fade, rise, drop, slide and pop, in and out, on any text or caption.

Voice-over first

Record against the picture. Music ducks under your voice, and loudness is set for streaming on export.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Something else? Ask us, a person replies.

Do I need design skills?
No. Scene templates give you a finished layout to change, and every shape and text style has sensible defaults. If you do have a brand, set your colours once and templates use them.
Can I use my own images and footage?
Yes. Upload video, audio and images to your library and drop them on the timeline next to your graphics.
Is there AI voice-over?
Not yet. You record your own voice-over in the browser. It’s on the list.
How long can an explainer be?
There’s no fixed limit on length. Exports render on our servers, so long projects don’t depend on your computer.
